Just wanted to let y'all know I'm here! Safe, showered, fed, and all the flying stuff went surprisingly smoothly. Busy next few days with meetings and orientation stuff, a trip to a forest on Wednesday, salsa lesson! etc...then spending all next week in a cloud forest!

Tomorrow = departure!
So after 8 months of planning, paperwork, a bunch of immunizations, and at least 5 attempts at packing today, I will be in Quito tomorrow! About 8 hours of actual flying time from Boston to Miami to Quito. Crossing my fingers that all my luggage and I make it there smoothly; haven't flown in 7 years, other than the little skydiving plane!
Even though it's on the equator, the forecast for the next few days is in the 60s and at night it can get into the upper 40s, since the city is at around 9300 feet...hoping I won't get hit too hard by the altitude change!
We're spending a week at a hostel for orientation and some Spanish classes, then heading off to La Florida Cloud Forest Reserve for a week. Going to be a crazy couple of weeks but I will try to put up some photos at some point!
